THIS IS A ROLEPLAY JOURNAL
Name: Logan (James Howlett - unknown)
Codename: Wolverine (Weapon X)
Age: Could be as old as 150. Lookshairy roughly 30-ish.
Played By: Hugh Jackman, baby.
Powers: Enhanced senses - Logan has a number of animal attributes possibly related to his primary- healing- power. His senses of sight, taste and smell are far superior to those of normal humans- he can pinpoint a scent up to or possibly exceeding eight hours old; he can detect trace elements of chemicals in the most saturated of liquids; he has excellent night vision and can pinpoint a singular individual at up to a mile. These attributes, as well as his heightened endurance levels and healing factor, make him the perfect hunter/tracker.
Healing factor - Logan's body is able to repair cellular and molecular damage at a rate far exceeding that of a normal human body. Depending on the damage inflicted, this repair could take mere seconds (shallow grazes, burns), hours (deep cuts, wounds) or days (severe internal/external damage, severe burns, extreme blood loss). This healing factor also makes him highly resistant to most diseases, poisons and drugs- alcohol and even painkillers have little effect. This mutation also allows his body to process high amounts of energy and still retain a functioning state, giving him much enhanced levels of endurance and strength. It also slows down the cellular decomposition relating to aging, making him far older than he appears. However, if Logan were to lose enough blood, vital organs or flesh, he can die. He can also be drowned or suffocated, although this may result in the loss of functioning parts of his brain rather than his body- he may survive, but he would be in a vegative state.
Adamantium skeleton/claws - During the experimentation by Weapon X, Logan had adamantium- a near-invulnerable metal- permanently grafted onto his bones. These bones included the six natural bone claws sheathed in his forearms, each a foot long and extending, when withdrawn, from between the knuckles of his hands. Adamantium is vulnerable only to itself, and can cut through any material, organic or otherwise. Logan's adamantium bones also make him vulnerable to magnetic attacks, and can cause him to sink in deep water- although his enhanced endurance and strength allows him to swim free, it costs him more in effort than it would a normal man.
Logan is unaware of the natural origins of his claws, and believes them to be an addition of the Weapon X program.
Feral nature - Whether Logan's inner feral nature is a product of the intense process he was put through with Weapon X, a side-effect of their experimentation, or a natural addition of his enhanced senses is unclear. He is liable to revert to an animalistic state when particularly aroused or incensed, which is often more of a liability than a positive addition. If under great stress, he can fall into a 'feral rage', wherein he mindlessly slaughters anything in his path and often doesn't remember anything of it afterwards.
Personality: Logan is gruff, surly and fucked-up in the head. He doesn't remember anything about his life before he broke free of Weapon X, little more than a beast, into the Canadian wilderness. Understandably, this makes him more than a little inverted. He doesn't like getting close to people, but he tends to find himself doing it anyway. When he's angry, he tends to get violent. When he's violent, he either wins or is put out of the fight by an outside intervention (a brain-whammy from Charles or Emma generally does the trick). He likes cigars, beer, classic cars and pissing people off- especially Scott, but mostly 'cause he's so damn easy.
Logan has a lot of hidden talents, and more than a few skeletons in his closet. Although he won't let on, he cares for the kids- he'd rather die than see them hurt, or having to go through what he's been through. He believes this war isn't a place for kids, and he'll do anything he can to keep them off of the front lines- even if it means taking their place, time and time again, in the middle of the battle. He loves deeply, often more deeply than he hates. Due to his healing factor, he knows- and accepts- the fact that he will outlive most, if not all, of his friends and family. This prevents him letting people into his life, no matter how much he wants them to.
History: Logan was born James Howlett, somewhere in New England, somewhere in the past. He was a sickly but imaginative boy, and was often found playing in the grounds of his parent's estate with his friends, Rose and the groundskeeper's son, Dog Logan.
James grew up happy and content, until one day Dog's father, Thomas Logan, was forced into retirement due to a series of losses in the Howlett's financial markets. They could no longer afford to keep him, and Thomas objected to this. The following night, he snuck up to the house and held James' mother hostage with a gun. James' father tried to intervene, but was shot- just as James walked into the room. James attacked Thomas, his grief and rage bringing forth his mutation- the six bone claws that jutted suddenly, obscenely, from his boy's fists. These he thrust into Thomas, who died instantly. There was uproar, and James fled the estate- followed, unknowingly, by Rose.
Rose caught up with James as he was making his bid for freedom, vowing to go with him. She persuaded him to go to his grandfather's house and ask for money. His grandfather was less than pleased to see the pair and sent them away with the money they'd asked for, if only they promised never to come back. James and Rose fled across the border to Canada, where James found a job in a quarry, under the name 'Logan'.
Years passed, and James fell in love with the red-haired Rose. She, however, was in love with the quarry master who employed them, a man named Smitty. James knew about this and kept his own feelings secret, so then, when Smitty and Rose decided they would go off together to get married, he only had congratulations for them. However, just as they were about to leave, Dog Logan turned up. He'd been tracking them ever since they'd left, and now struck to avenge his dead father. He attacked James, and in the ensuing fight, Rose got stabbed with James' claws and died. James, distraught, killed Dog and fled the quarry, to live as a wildman in the Canadian forests.
Now, Logan's history becomes hazy. Among other things, it is suggested that he went to Japan and became a samurai warrior. His first positive sighting was during WW1, and then again in WW2, when he fought alongside Captain America. It is believed that it was then, as part of an army recruitment, when Logan first came to the attention of Weapon X. Due to his mutation, he was well known as being able to survive the impossible- bullets to the head, shell-attacks that should've killed him. Dr Cornelius, head of the Weapon X program, brought him to the attention of the scientists, and he was promptly initiated.
As a nice, slow, introduction, they decided to surgically graft adamantium onto his entire skeleton. His healing factor allowed him to survive, but the process broke his already unstable mind and he reverted to a feral state. He was far more powerful than the program had estimated him to be, and he soon escaped- still the only mutant to have fled Weapon X and survived.
He lived for an unknown amount of years in the wilderness, before returning to society as part of the Canadian Black Ops. From there, he was picked up by a Charles Xavier, who was proposing a dream he decided he could believe in- for now, anyway.
Additional Information: Logan drinks only Canadian or European beer, as he believes American beer tastes like piss and is only suitable for feeble American drinkers. He has a mad-crazy crush on Jean, and hates Scott with a fiery vengance.
Mun!Info: I live in England, UK, so I'll be running on GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).
